Björn Hanneke is a Doctoral Candidate in Information Systems at Goethe University Frankfurt, researching at the Chair of Information Systems and Information Management (Prof. Dr. Oliver Hinz).
In his dissertation, he explores the Dynamics of Tokenized Value in Decentralized Markets. Building on these foundations, his current research focuses on three core streams: decentralized finance and Web3 cybersecurity risks, incentive design in decentralized markets, and market design and economic implications of hybrid physical-digital (Phygital) goods.
Björn brings over a decade of industry expertise to his academic research. Prior to his doctoral studies, he co-founded a data analytics start-up and served as a strategy consultant at Berg Lund & Company (2014–2022). In this role, he advised financial institutions on digital transformation and process automation. This background allows him to bridge rigorous information systems and economic theory with deep practical insights into financial markets and technology.
He holds an MSc in Finance from Lancaster University Management School and a double degree BSc in International Management from ESB Business School Reutlingen and a BBA from Lancaster University Management School.
